The club will close for the Xmas and the new year holidays from Wednesday 21st December and re-open for training on Monday 9th January 2012


Jim & Carol Miller open the first Shukokai Karate Club in 1977 at Cambuslang Institute. It was so successful the club rapidly expanded and opened branches at the Couper Institute Cathcart and Langside Halls Shawlands both in Glasgow and further expanded opening another two clubs at Rutherglen Burgh Hall and West Parish Church in Rutherglen spreading the Shukokai style of karate.

To this day at the Shukokai Karate Club the emphasis is still on the training given by the late Master Kimura, making sure all students become the best they can be at the style of Shukokai karate which focuses on Speed, Power and Impact.


The Shukokai Karate club prides it's self on the personal tuition given at the club by Jim, Carol & Steven who all hold Scottish Karate Governing Body ( SKGB) licenses to coach

The Qualified grading examiners in the club are:
Dusty Miller 8th Dan (Dan grading examiner)
Carol Miller 6th Dan (Dan grading examiner)
Steven Miller 3rd Dan ( Kyu grading examiner)

All students are graded by Senseis Jim, Carol or Steven unlike other clubs who bring in a stranger for gradings. This way all students can be evaluated properly.

All Coaches have a continuous Enhanced Disclosure Check carried out by the Scottish Karate Governing Body.

Congratulations to Carol Miller who was awarded her 6th Dan in Feb 2011.

All were successful in passing their 4th Dan grades on Friday 13th May congratulations also to John Gallacher in passing his 1st Dan
